Before leaving Rincon de Guayabitos we visited the lagoon toward the northeast of town once more, in the evening.
Recent rains resulted in high water levels & the sandbar at the mouth of the lagoon had breached, to flow into the sea.
The trees were full of birds – the most flamboyant, Snowy Egrets.
At least a dozen Yellow-crowned Night Herons were roosting in the trees.
The juveniles were not quite as noticeable.
In the grasses nearby another flash of yellow was a familiar bird to us – a Yellow-rumped Warbler.
At dusk the full moon rose – the reason for the high waves we had noticed earlier on the beach.
An ibis with its unmistakable silhouette flew over in the twilight.
The next morning, the full moon was setting over the headland southwest of town, beyond the crashing waves.
Just beautiful pics, love all the birds
Thanks Krista, your lovely photos give us a taste of being there!
